The client wanted a dedicated outdoor entertaining space built alongside their existing pool area. The brief was a fully enclosed pool house with an outdoor kitchen, room for hosting, and a design that matched the existing home's dark brick and modern lines. It had to feel like a natural extension of the house, not a separate structure sitting in the backyard.

The pool house needed to sit alongside an existing pool and connect back to a two-storey brick home with a strong architectural style. That meant every material and finish had to match or complement what was already there.
Key considerations included:
We designed the pool house as a standalone structure with its own character, while keeping the material palette consistent with the main home. Dark face brick walls anchor the build, with a steel-framed roof finished in timber battens across the ceiling. The result is a warm, sheltered space that feels connected to the house without copying it.
The outdoor kitchen runs along two walls with dark cabinetry, stone benchtops, a built-in BBQ, rangehood, sink, and space for a keg setup. A large ceiling fan keeps airflow moving in summer, and recessed downlights provide even lighting for evening use.
Large format tiles were laid across the pool house floor and out to the surrounding pool area, creating a continuous surface that ties the spaces together. Glass pool fencing keeps sightlines open from every angle.

The completed pool house sits as a centrepiece of the property's outdoor area. It functions as a full outdoor kitchen, entertaining zone, and poolside retreat all in one. The material choices hold up to weather and heavy use, and the finishes are consistent with the quality of the main residence.
From the timber batten ceiling to the dark brick detailing, every element was built with the same standard we apply to a full home build. The client now has an outdoor space they use year-round, not just in summer.
